WVS Student Agreement

  • Becoming a student at the World Visionary Society carries considerable weight with regards to commitment, responsibility, and seriousness of intention. It must not be engaged out of idle curiosity or for a need to understand more about the process by which this way of life is characterized. As a student, you are embracing this practice out of an acknowledged need for guidance and help on the path to self-realization.

  • In order to become a student, initiation is mandatory and necessary. This involves a direct connection with the Master-Teacher and subsequent dissemination of the Core Teaching, which is the foundation for all tenets and practices of our Society. Initiation is a life-changing event that can have far-reaching implications for the student. As such, it should not be approached casually, and the student must have in mind, preferably in heart, a sincere and serious intention characterized by the resolution to realize not only the truth about reality but also commitment to a life of service to the world at large.

  • This agreement does not bind the student’s free will in any way. Each student is free to come and go as s/he pleases or as his/her capabilities will allow. That said, if at any point the student discovers deep contentions with the process or the tenets that have been shared, it is his/her obligation to avoid any negative entanglement with the Society, its Founder, Master-Teachers, or other representatives. This is due to the fact that this agreement is symbolic for a sacred relationship which carries risks for both teacher and student alike. All negative consequences may be completely avoided as long as there is always a mood of openness, maturity, and respect for all that has been given, regardless of whether or not it has produced or triggered the results which the student may be expecting in his or her individual case.

  • At the time of initiation, the Core Teaching will be verbally conveyed (among other levels of communication). Under no circumstances is this Teaching to be shared in verbal, recorded, written, or any other form with any non-student. This Core Teaching is precious and deeply transformative for those that are open to its message and therefore is not intended for public consumption. The world at large is grossly unprepared for this Teaching and most human beings are largely lacking in the seriousness, respect, and humility to properly understand its message. Therefore, the Core Teaching belongs exclusively to formal students with the purpose of being internalized, integrated, and expanded in the complex of their experience of reality. It is expected that you will maintain due respect and seriousness for the Core Teaching the full duration of your life and will guard it from individuals or entities that might oppose or seek to destroy it.

  • The process that will be conveyed to you over time is inherently challenging at nearly every level of being. Your greatest weaknesses and limitations will surface and require fierce, one-pointed observation in parallel with formal guidance and insight that will be progressively revealed to you over time, according to your readiness. There is absolutely no place for ego drama in our Society, and though there will be multiple opportunities for egocentric reactivity in the course of this practice, you are expected as a student to leverage all faculties available to you to step outside of yourself and observe the teaching that is being communicated to you. This is necessarily predicated by an understanding of the various ways in which the human ego obstructs both personal and global progress, at all echelons of human society. You are joining an elite group of humans who have committed their lives to selfless service to humanity at large in the context of radical self-transcendence and self-understanding.

  • The sacred relationship that is invoked in the process of the student-teacher contract requires even and fair exchange of energy. No gifts may be given or received without that ever-present balance and need for equanimity. For this reason, the student agrees to tithe either a portion of their income or their time in service to the World Visionary Society. As an alternative, a compromise is offered: energy may also be exchanged in the form of financial remuneration. According to this compromise, fees have been established for initiation and mentoring activities. This ensures that the gifts and blessings a student receives in the course of this process are at least minimally compensated in the form of support for the World Visionary Society, its goals, and its overall vision.

  • From the beginning, it is the expectation that every student has the end goal of becoming a Master-Teacher or a major influencer in one of the 13 domains of our society. This process is not for individuals that are simply seeking an escape from reality, sensations of bliss or freedom, or any form of creature comfort that might distract one from the true process. That said, this process is inherently purposed to ultimate freedom and happiness, however not in the context of the traditional understanding of such concepts. Life, according to our Society’s understanding, is inherently a sacrifice, if lived deeply and truly. One is enriched not by what they receive, regardless of how extraordinary such gifts may be, but rather by freedom from ill-conceived thoughts and inadequate cathexes that limit human potential and perpetuate pain and suffering, generation to generation. As such, becoming a student of the World Visionary Society is perhaps the most serious decision a human can make, more serious than marriage, employment, or choice of career. In truth, all three are encompassed and enriched by the process that our Society provides, while going far beyond them in aspects that are difficult to convey in the beginning of the student process.

  • You are not permitted to refer any potential students to the Society without first speaking personally with a Master-Teacher or a representative, considering the candidate’s qualifications, and obtaining formal approval. This teaching and its principles are highly guarded and maintained with the utmost rigor and care. Every precaution has been taken to prevent individuals that are not prepared for this message from entering the room and engaging in the process. It is your responsibility to understand the seriousness of the process and the ways it might disrupt the lives and well-being of those that are not capable of engaging it with their full attention, mind, and body.

  • Transparency and free expression are absolutely essential for success in our Society. Under no circumstances is the student to presume that their issues or challenges are in any way unique or not applicable to fierce scrutiny and eventual resolution and understanding. This process has been forged on the basis of over 200 years of tireless, perpetual work and experimentation across multiple generations. It is the continuation of a long and ancient lineage of sacred Teaching that has been passed from generation to generation from one individual to the other. This Way is not a philosophy, a religion, a cult, or even a spiritual ideology. It is the real process being offered to serious human beings in this time and place in a moment when the human world is in deep turmoil and in danger of extinction.

  • By registering for Student Initiation, you agree to all these terms and conditions in perpetuity, regardless of whether or not you remain formally connected with the Society.
